To live purposefully, is to know your strengths, to know what it is that you love. In this day and age we see a lot more people going after what they love and not taking no for an answer. There are more people starting their own businesses and finding where they fit. Japheth aka Meli, was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY where he decided to start his business ‘Measure life’.

“Measure Life is to live with purpose...”

Japheth graduated with a bachelor’s in Architecture, which helped him create his business name ‘Measure Life’. He explains to us that brand was inspired by a combination of his career and how he believes life should be lived. By taking one step at a time, one day at a time you will begin to obtain the life you want.

“Everything you do happens for a reason”.

He is constantly focused on making sure that he gets what he wants in life by planning it out, doing it accordingly and sticking to his plan. He encourages people to live with love, “Love conquers all” he says. He believes that the more positive energy you spread in the world the more positive energy will be reciprocated into the things that you want out of life.

Being from Brooklyn, NY, he knows how gritty it can be and how focused everyone is on obtaining their own dreams and accomplishing their goals. He remembers growing up and not being able to get all of the designer clothes or shoes that his peers were wearing.

“I didn’t have it like that to buy all the clothes that everyone else had. So I decided to make my own high-fashion clothing.”

His drive to become a designer and start his business wasn’t his first choice. He never wanted to make clothes but for him it ended up becoming the one thing that made sense to him.

“I’ve always been creative. I remember being in school sketching while lessons were going on. I was always interested in the fashion world but I didn’t get involved until 2021. I didn’t had the funds or the drive to do it until I finished college. I didn’t always want a clothing brand but I decided that this made sense.”

Japheth knew that creating his brand would infiltrate positivity within his community because in his brand he places a lot of wisdom for others to grow. He wanted something that you can put on and feel good about. “If you think about most of the mainstream brands, you see a lot more negativity than you do positivity.” Japheth makes sure that everything he places on his website creates a positive outlook and gives you a sense of positive energy that you can carry throughout your day when wearing his brand. For example, each hat color represents something positive. “Orange stands for balance, red stands for passion, purple stands for wisdom and blue is for hope. Everything I put out, I want it to be positive. Everything that you wear I want you to feel that.”

Japheth is incredibly excited about the things that he has in store for his brand. He is working on

creating more collections and adding more accessories to his collection as well. He continues to create positive change within his community by being a positive inspiration. “Right now, my way of giving back is through motivational videos that I call “Meli Mondays”. Most of my videos pertain to ‘how to gain confidence & how to be happy’. In the future, I would like to organize clothing and food drives. Also, I feel as though there are a lot of young folks being misguided. I want to provide the resources to help them find their purpose and guide them appropriately. I hope to be a great mentor one day as well..” We look forward to seeing what else Japheth has in store for his brand and his community.
