Lets face it

The topic of mental health is huge in today’s world. Nasia Crawford, gracefully faces the topic head on, by creating the streetwear brand, Mxed Behavior, to bring attention to the subject, specifically within the black community.

For Nasia Crawford, bridging the gap between the Black community and mental health awareness is pivotal. Fueled by her own mental health journey and the Black community’s stigma around the topic, Crawford created Mxed Behavior. She transformed what was originally a mental health PSA into a streetwear brand that highlights the importance of mental health within the Black community. Founded in 2019, the brand is marked by its signature “Double Mirror” design. The logo depicts an image of a deadpan Black girl masked behind a mirror plastered with a bright smile. The New York native said the logo shows people,

“it’s ok to take that mask off in regards to mental health and it’s ok to be vulnerable and talk about it.”

Every factor behind the brand was intentional. The initial word in the name, “Mxed”, lacks an ‘i’ to make the clothing line a vision of inclusivity. The junior at Hampton University said excluding the letter represents the black diaspora. “We are a unit and the only way we are going to solve this issue is as a unit,” she said. She wants her supporters to know they are not alone in their struggle. In the last 3 years since the brand’s founding, Crawford has seen her line grow in intentionality and support. In the future, she wants her brand to expand into the coloring book, notebook and affirmations journal markets as well. Ultimately, she wants Mxed Behavior to blossom into a mentorship program for young Black girls.
